The fundamentals of drawing and painting of landscapes, portraits, still lifes and, occasionally, live models will be addressed and reinforced. Individual projects are enhanced with a thorough and constant emphasis in concepts of form, line, paint quality, drawing, color, and composition. Students will constantly be exposed to both modern and past ideas that will help inspire them and constantly think outside the box while using their medium of choice. March 22-April 12, 2016--INTRODUCTION TO PRINTMAKING with Nancy McTague-Stock--Tuesday evenings, 6pm-9pm--4-week workshop, limited to 6. Includes 4 hours of free studio time each week. This workshop is designed to introduce monotype, linoleum block printing, drypoint and collagraph. Each week for 30 minutes, the focus will be on the history of each medium along with a demonstration. Thereafter, each participant will have the opportunity to work in the new technique and print their work. This workshop is for novice and experienced printmakers who wish to hone their techniques. 7 pm - 10 pm. Decorate a springtime grapevine wreath that can be used year after year. Gather in our Nature Center for a brief tutorial followed by open time to decorate in our back tent area near a cozy fire. Your fee includes a plain grapevine wreath, ribbon, flowers, moss, grasses and other natural dried materials. Our pavilion will be open for participants to spend some time relaxing fireside after decorating. Feel free to bring your own refreshments to enjoy during and after decorating.
