Every summer, the Seaport Ferry in South Norwalk carries hundreds of hungry passengers to the historic 1868 Sheffield Island Lighthouse for the Norwalk Seaport Association's famous Thursday Clambakes. A true New England dining experience, the evening allows participants to dine in the festive tented pavilion on the lighthouse lawn, with tours of the lighthouse itself included in the cost. Roundtrip cruise and dinner is either $65 or $79 per person, depending on entree. Vegetarian options available. Advance registration only

Wesport Historical Society - Walking Tour of Old Mill Pond at Compo Cove

Join us for a tour of Old Mill at Compo Cove, the inspiration behind our summer exhibit "the beautiful POND" led by artist Judith Orseck Katz and Robin Tauck of Tauck Tours. "Come walk with me," the artist writes, "to the Mill Pond, out over the bridges that float above the water, where you're suspended between the arc of the sky and the sky's reflection." This is an opportunity to see the bridges, marshes and wildlife that surround the beautiful mill house, which Katz calls "the seed of the birth of Westport". Meet at the Guard Booth located in Old Mill Beach Parking lot. Reservations are required. There is a $10 donation. To reserve, call 203-222-1424. Flora and Fauna at the Bruce Museum

Flora and Fauna brings together a selection of Anderson's large-scale botanical illustrations for which she is best-known and life-size scratchboard illustrations of birds. The three-foot tall, black-and-white images are striking, meticulously drawn from life in exacting detail. Two new pieces created for this show spotlight mounted birds selected from the Bruce Museum collection -- a red-breasted merganser and a barred owl. Hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am – 5 pm.
