Flora and Fauna brings together a selection of Anderson's large-scale botanical illustrations for which she is best-known and life-size scratchboard illustrations of birds. The three-foot tall, black-and-white images are striking, meticulously drawn from life in exacting detail. Two new pieces created for this show spotlight mounted birds selected from the Bruce Museum collection -- a red-breasted merganser and a barred owl. Hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am – 5 pm.

Flanders Photo Contest

Flanders is holding a photography contest. All submission must be in by Oct. 14. Prizes for the best submissions based on composition, image quality, originality and the story the image tells. The photo contest is an invitation to capture the spirit and beauty of autumn with images that might include foliage or any activity that best depicts the season. The photos do not need to be taken on a Flanders' property but instead can be taken anywhere that provides the photographer inspiration. Contestants may submit up to 5 entries. All entries must be in digital formats of 6MB or less in size. Submissions should be emailed to Flanders offices by October 14. Along with an entry blank identifying the photographer of the photo for each submitted photo. The cost for one submission is $5.00, 2/$7.00, 3/ $10.00, 4/$13 and 5/$15. The children will use fabric paint, a brayer and fall leaves to stencil autumnal patterns on cotton dish towels made of flour sack cloth.
