Favorite memories, reminders, and images of home will be on display as the City of Norwalk Parking Authority's Maritime Garage Gallery presents its new exhibit "Memories of Our Town" this fall. The exhibit will run through January 5, 2018. "Memories Of Our Town," features art in a variety of mediums that represents the unique memories of the place we call home: places, people, sounds, smells, events, etc. that are personally significant to the artist. The gallery is located in the Maritime Garage at 10 North Water Street in Norwalk. The exhibit is free and open to the public from 9:00am -5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

n honor of the 50th anniversary of the Town of New Canaan's acquisition of 300 acres from former resident Ruth Lapham Lloyd, the Historical Society is proud to announce Waveny Now and Then. The art exhibit features drawings, paintings, photographs and sculpture of work inspired by and/or created in Waveny Park. Mark Markiewicz, Torrance York, Antonia Betancourt, Dmitri Wright, Audrey Klotz, Drew Klotz and Jeanna Shepard will have work on display. The art will be for sale with a portion of the proceeds going to the Historical Society. The show will run through December 22. An opening reception will be held on September 29 from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $25 for members and $35 for non-members.

Thursday/Friday 11-3, Saturday/Sunday 12-3. The Stamford Art Association will present "CORNER STORE", a solo painting exhibit by Tara Blackwell at its Townhouse Gallery. Tara grew up in a household filled with artists-both her parents and her older brother-in a home teeming with differing artistic styles and modalities. The early deaths of her brother and father left her, a young painter, struggling to find her voice without her beloved teachers. In retrospect, processing these tragedies is what Tara, now a mature artist with a unique, exciting style, believes most accounts for the complexity and depth of her current work in which she employs bold colors, layers, and texture.

10-4. This two-day workshop will explore the layering effects of monotype using the perfect registration of the Vandercook Proofing Press to produce unique impressions with luminous color relationships. Monotypes will be developed by over-printing numerous translucent color inks, and by printing dry media such as pencil, charcoal or pastel. Demonstrations will lead the participant from their preliminary sketches to working in both reductive and additive printing approaches. Many examples will be shown along with demonstrations of stenciling and other techniques.

Today, there are 100 choristers from 31 nations between the ages of ten and fourteen, divided into four touring choirs. The visit virtually all European countries, and they are frequent guests in Asia, Australia, and the Americas.

Rowayton Santa Run

Santa will be making his annual visit to Rowayton aboard his big red fire engine sleigh on Sunday, December 3rd. He will arrive at the Rowayton train station at 1:00 pm and then make his rounds through Rowayton, stopping at the corner of Crest and Ridgewood, Rowayton Library, the Bell Island gatehouse, South Beach, the Beach Association boat house and Brendan's 101. Children can also visit him at the Firehouse on Rowayton Avenue from 2:15-2:45 pm. Check website for locations and times.
